I finally received my first dose of Covid vaccine a couple of days ago.
I was notified through the MySejahtera and also received an SMS message in my phone. For those of you unfamiliar, MySejahtera is an App used by the Malaysia government for contact tracing and its vaccination program.
I was given a 5 days notice before my vaccination appointment.
I was getting frustrated waiting for my turn to get the appointment date really having registered early, in February 2021 when the program was introduced.
Even though my age is the oldest amongst the four people in our household, I’m the last to get vaccinated.
Back to my vaccination experience in Hotel Premier Klang
From what I understand, the hotel was newly appointed as a vaccination centre. I had no idea the type of vaccine that I’d be getting.
My appointment was at 7PM. I arrived early at 6:30pm just in case as I wasn’t familiar with the area and in case there was a crowd.
First thing was locating the parking and when I did the basement parking we were directed to indicated a height clearance of 2m which was no good for my van. Luckily an attendant standing nearby allowed me to park at the open area adjacent.
There were many empty seats all along the waiting areas which meant no crowd. The process went smoothly and I was given the Pfizer vaccine.
That does not necessarily mean that this centre only uses Pfizer as one of the personnel attending to me did say “today is Pfizer” which could mean other brands on other days?
So smooth was the process that I was out of the place just before 7pm which was my supposedly appointment time! And all that including checking documents, filling up questionaires, updating the app, getting the injection, 15 minutes of observation time, getting my documents and appointment for the 2nd dose.
Very efficient everything was. And everyone I met was very courteous.
Side Effects
Driving home I could start to feel a slight tingly feel in my left arm area which the jab was.
I had a slight and brief headache on the second day that quickly went away. No fever like some people are said to experience.
The next two days there is a slight discomfort when I try to lift up my left arm. The feeling was significantly less by the third day.
It’s now four days since I got that 1st dose and I continue to feel kind of lethargic but it is not serious. It’s like a restless feeling.
I’ve stopped my morning exercising routine just in case but am not sure if that’s making me feel more restless.
I intend to start doing some light exercise again tomorrow and the following days and pick up to my usual pace again until my 2nd dose appointment which is 3 weeks apart.
What about you, have you gotten your dose? If yes, what side effects did you have if any.
